Assingment #8 Present Perfect Vs Past Simple.

Okay, as we're reviewing, once more, The Present Perfect and the Past Simple we have another activity^^
Ronda asked us to write some important things that had happened to us in our lives using Present Perfect and Past simple, so here we go again!

º I was born in Satniago de Chile, RM in a sunny day on March 11th of 1988.
ºMy interests have been the same since I was a child, when I was little, I used to draw the toys my parents couldn't afford and stick them on cardboard, that way I learned how to draw... Now,I have a personal Gallery with my drawings at http://www.efe-the-dawnbringer.deviantart.com. I have been working on that gallery for the last few months and it really makes me proud. and since I have memory my musical likes have been the same too, in fact, music have been a way of life for me for my entire life. at the age of 2 or 3 I started listening to rock and metal bands such as KISS, Guns & Roses, Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Metallica, Sepultura and such... those bands are my inspiration when I play guitar.
ºI started school at the age of 2 years 8 months, cause my mother didn't have someone to look after me. so, my whole life has been between books and studies. maybe because of that I'm into being a teacher (to take a look on the other side XD)
ºIn 1999 I entered a comic contest in which I got the 10th place out of 1.015 participants from all the country. I haven't been doing comics for a long time. maybe I should start again.
ºAt school I failed the 8th and the 11th grades, which was a kind of shock. but that made me realize that when nothing seems right, we always can count on ourselves and by giving our best we can get our things done, this has been like a kind of moto for me since then."count on yourself and get your things done".
ºIn 2006 I did personal english classes, that was my first approach to what I have wanted to study for a long time.
ºI graduated from school in 2007 and the next year I started my career as a teacher, I have been studying since then, and I haven't studied any other carrer.
ºA year ago my big brother gave me my first electric guitar on Xmas (A Squier Bullet Strat by Fender, AWESOME!!!). That way I finally could start learning playing guitar. Nowdays I'm looking forward to form a band , which is one of my dreams, since I was a child.
ºSo far some of my greatest achievments are being in the second year of my career and haven't failed any subjects, having my own online gallery and working with people from around the world (specially Poland and Germany^^), and being a better man that I thought I could be.

that was my 8th assingment, hope that if someone reads it, likes it.... if not, well...go read another blog!

6th assingment Comparatives and superlatives in Chile

Now that we talked a bit about my country Chile, we're going to know a bit more about it. The tallest buildings, the funniest places, wich places are more interesting than others in Santiago, and stuff like that.

First I'm going to talk about the tallest building in town. The Titanium tower is going to b the tallest biulding in Santiago. With it's one hundred and ninety meters, is The Giant collosus in the north part of the city. It's so big that you can see it almost from every point in the city. The Titanum tower is also the newest corporative biulding in Santiago. It's height and shape are almost taken from a Sci-fi movie! You really gotta see it to believe it. The Titanium tower is fifty meters taller than the Telefonica building, which, with it's one hundred and forty meters, was the tallest building in the city and in the country.

What about food? what's the best restaurant in Chile?
It depends on how many bills are you carrying in your pocket. In Chile there are a lot of restaurants, but one of the best is Puerto Fuy. Recognized internationaly as the best chilean restaurant, Puerto Fuy is located in Vitacura, in Santiago de Chile.
Other option is the popular Nuria Restaurant. Low prices and huge (and I mean really huge) dishes makes this restaurant the best choice for a meal, dinner, even a breakfast!
it has several locations and even an express service if you're running somewhere and you want to have a quick snack. born in 1928, Nuria Restaurant is a traditional destination for everyone that walks in the country. you can have everything, from typical food to hot-dogs. it's a better option than Puerto Guy if you're running low on money.

But what about transport? The Chilean Subway is the fastest way to travel to one place to another in Santiago(faster than buses or takis at least), and it's also the most huge of the public works in all Chile.
It all started forty years ago. it took five complete years to develop this transport monster, which makes it the construction which took the longest time to build.

And now! *insert drums here* The QUIZ!!!

1. which is taller - The Telefonica building or the Titanium tower?
2. having a good amount of money for a dinner - Which is better, Nuria restaurant or Puerto Fuy?
3. Which of these is the fastest transport? Taxi - Buses - Subway.
4. which restaurant serves bigger dishes Nuria or Puerto Fuy?
5. How many meters tall is the Telefonica building?
6. which one of these took the longest time to be built? Titanium tower - The Subway - Nruia restarant.
7. Which is the oldest - Nuria restaurant or the Subway?

5th assignment. If you ever come to visit^^

Santiago is a very beautiful city located in Chile, Southamerica. it is also the place where i live, so I'm going to talk about it a bit, let's see if you get interested in paying a visit, ok?

If you ever come to Santiago, you should definitely visit Bellas Artes Museum. it's almost free (you have to pay an optional fee) and there are sculptures of differents artists, century old paintings, modern and conceptual art. If you like arts this is the place for you.

If you like rock and having fun, you have to go to "Rock & Guitarras" Pub-Restaurant. It's a very cool place, they always have rock bands from around town, and sometimes they have Legendary bands like "HAIL!" or"DORSO", it is also cheaper than other pubs. it is located in Macul near irarrazabal.

You shouldn't visit Providencia If you're looking for something different. It's a comercial street like any other around the world.

4th Assignment "I remember..."

Okay... let's see... today we have to:

"Write about the first time you met someone who is now important in your life. Include details". So... Here I come!

I was 18 or 19 years old, I was still at school at that time, and after classes two friends and me, decided to go for a walk to Providencia, just for fun.

When we arrived our stomaches were roaring with hunger, and the smell of "Rocco's" Pizzas was a torture. Suddenly, while we were watching the slices of pizza through a window, I spotted a group of schoolgirls eating pizza and chatting inside. As we were hungry and they were good-looking, I decided to make one risky move. I told the guys:

-"Do you wanna eat some pizza and meet those girls inside?"
They told me:- "What are you up to?"
-"I'm planning of asking them if they are eating the whole pizza" : )
And they answered:- "we didn't know we were hanging out with a bum"
I replied:- "well, keep starving, I'm gonna eat pizza and have a chat with those girls, you may watch through the window, losers" and I entered the place.
When i got near the table I started chatting with them, they were very nice and funny, and one girl caught my attention above the others. White-porcelain-like skin, long curled chestnut hair, fire-red lips... simply gorgeous, her name was Pilar.
They gave me a slice and we kept chatting for a while laughing and having a good time. After that we exchanged e-mails and we met a few more times.

After that we dated for a few months, then we became really good friends with her, but we lost contact for a long time. Funny thing is that now, I'm her boyfriend! How lucky can a human being be?

In all this years i've realized that she is a very strong person, we have in common our love for rock and metal, animals, beer, history, and a lot of other things! I really enjoy her company, and one of the good things that I've found about her, is the fact that we can be doing different things, side by side without being stuck togehter like other couples, and is still a way of loving each other^^, also we can spend hours chatting and laughing about the weirdest and the most stupid things on earth.

When we first met, I thought she was a shy, rather serious person, but I gotta say I was wrong in the first impression for maybe the unique time in my life. She turned out to be quite expressive sometimes, and she laughs more than I thought she would when we first met. In the end, she turned out to be cooler than I thought^^. Here she is------------------------------------------------------->

Well this is it^^ i hope you (whoever you are reading this) enjoyed reading a bit of my life again^^. if you didn't... go check another blog XDDDDDDDD

PD:María I'll wait for your reply^^

3rd Assignment "Your weekend"

This time I have to write about my last weekend, what I did, where I went, etc...

So here I come!

Last weekend I was a bit busy. On Friday I went to the Expo English AREI 2009, it was an exihibition about foreign universities and institutes that were offering courses for people who wanted to learn English, but also, there were institutes providing Italian, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish courses abroad. Options were almost endless, there were institutes from Canada, Ireland, Britain, Scotland, U.S.A., Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Malta, Germany, and even China! and they offered courses for teachers, managments and for people who doesn't have an specific career and just wanted to learn other language. It was very interesting, because people could see their chances and costs to study abroad, also there were free cookies, candies and cofee, so i didn't starve to death this time.

Later that day I went to some Music stores and I fell in Love with a Black Jackson King V guitar, but sadly i can't afford it... Here's a picture of it... it's "awesomeness" itself. -------------------------------->

The I went to my girlfriend's place, and we had a nice dinner with her family, they are so nice to me that I really feel like I'm home with them^^.

On saturday I was going to a Thrash Metal concert, but I couldn't go because I had no money. However My bad mood lasted until I saw a wrestling show on internet with my brother. we remembered the good old times, when we were little and we used to watch the now-called "World Wrestling Entertainment", but back in the day it was called "World Wrestling Federation", we laughed a lot when we remembered how we tried to do the grapples and moves of our favorite wrestlers, i really had a great time.

But on Sunday things got a bit hard... I tried to work on some Curricular theory homeworks, but I couldn't focus, because my grandpa was getting sicker and sicker, so I decided to visit him in the Italian Third Age Home, he was a bit well, at least he wasn't feeding imaginary kittens like the last time I saw him. when I had checked that he was alright I went back home to prepare my stuff for the week and read a bit of Harry Potter 7th book...
So as you may had noticed, my weekend was not very exciting nor interesting, even thou I hope you have enjoyed reading this assignment
